G. ANDROUTSOS expresses how anxious he is about the arrival of the two much expected fire- ships, intended for the reinforcement of the defence of Missolonghi, and describes the failed attempts of the existing fleet to defend the city. «Missolonghi is in extreme distress. For five days now it is without food.

In spite of the tragic situation, «The decision nevertheless of the brave inhabitants of Missolonghi, as we are informed, is today or tomorrow to exit with sword in hand and those who will die, to die with glory for the country rather than surrender».
