The regeneration of the Greeks was documented
on the basis of their historical continuity from Antiquity, founding through it the right of shaking off
the Ottoman yoke. Especially in the advanced 18th century and the early 19th, foreign antiquarians, who visit Greece
in quest of antiquities, will evolve into the early Philhellenes, as much as Greek scholars, who take part in
the Enlightenment and its liberal ideas, prepare
ideologically the concept of self-consciousness
in the Greeks and their effort in pursuit of Freedom.
