The historical Hall of the Trophies and Adjutants in the Palace of the Hellenic Parliament, the so-called today
«Hall of Eleftherios Venizelos», is adorned
by an ensemble of monumental wall-paintings: the former by the Frieze of the Revolution,
with scenes from the Struggle for Independence, while the latter by the Medals of the Heroes, with individual portraits of its protagonists.
The wall-paintings of the Hall of the Trophies extend in the form of a frieze all around
its four walls, aligned from the north to
the west one, along a band of 120 centimetres in height, having a total length of 59 metres. The representations of the Frieze of
the Revolution were assigned in 1836
to the Bavarian sculptor Ludwig Michael von Schwanthaler (1802-1848), court artist in Munich of Ludwig I. Schwanthaler was chosen after having successfully drawn in 1829 themes of the Greek mythology and literature for the iconography of the friezes in the Palace (Residenz) of Munich.
