The Uprising of the Greeks at Patras
134 BEHOLDING LIBERTY!
The siege of the Patras fortress constitutes the first Greek-Ottoman conflict. On March 23 -or according to others, on March 24 or 25- a great religious ceremony takes place in the square of Saint George, led by Metropolitan Germanos III of Old Patras, who swore in the attending warriors.
A scene of action, with the Greeks on the left chasing the Turks, who take refuge in the walled city on the right.
