The National Assembly at Epidaurus
HALL OF THE TROPHIES
Since the outbreak of the Revolution the need for the reinstitution of a central administrative body, one that would undertake on the one hand the coordination of the struggle and on the other hand the political and administrative organization of the liberated areas, was evident. Towards this aim, the 1st National Assembly was summoned in Epidaurus (December 20, 1821 - January 15, 1822). In this context, on January 1st, 1822 the Provisional Administration of Greece was elected and set the foundations for the constitutional life of the country.
The oath of the plenipotentiaries before the Provisional government is depicted. Their movements and their body and vision setting artificially lead the eye of the spectator to the Constitutional document itself.
