Law of Epidaurus that is Provisional Constitution of Greece at Astros on the 13th April 1923 and 3rd of the Greek Independence
Hydra, 22 August 1824
Library of the Hellenic Parliament
THE PROVISIONAL CONSTITUTION
of Epidaurus was revised in 1823 by the 2nd Na- tional Assembly of Astros. The new Constitution, that was called Law of Epidaurus, was, in terms of legal technicalities, more sound and established a slight superiority of the legislative power over the executive one. It also excluded nobility titles and im- proved the regulations on individual rights, including provisions in favour of the freedom of the press and protection of property, honour and safety of «each
and every Greek and every man within the territory of the State».
The edition was announced through a printed no- tification of the printer Josef Chiappe (Hydra, 22 August 1824), accompanied by an invitation for the registration of subscribers: «The price of the pam- phlet is then fixed for the registered in advance subscribers at grossi 2, which will be paid upon re- ceiving it». The names of the subscribers were not published, as it was otherwise usually done.
