HALL OF THE TROPHIES
The Glory of Patriarch Gregorios V
In retribution for the revolt of the Christian flock, the Turks hang Patriarch Gregorios V in Constantinople along with the members of the Holy Synod on April 10 1821, Easter Sunday. His dead body is left to public castigation and is finally thrown to the sea.
In an architectural background with a perspective, the figure of the angel dominates, symbolizing the immorta- lity of the martyr Patriarch.
