Library of the Hellenic Parliament
THE LEGISLATIVE ESTABLISHES the creation of national mintage, among other things, because «one of the most official proofs of nations’ independence and autonomy is each one of them to engrave its national symbols on its own coins». In the statute, reference is made to the metals’ raw materials (gold, silver, copper) and their purity, to the punishments applicable to forgers, and to the responsibility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to supervise the procedure of currency issuing.
